Yes they work for compiz but this was never my problem I need them to handle 3d to the point of playing games and things through WINE. 		<description>Without sounding exactly like the person you didn&#039;&#039;t want to hear from, Mesa does work!

After installing the Mesa experimental drivers you must make sure that you update everything related to mesa:

yum update mesa*

You will ALSO need to update your xorg ATI driver:

yum update xorg-x11-drv-ati

Then you can do all the compiz whiz-bang stuff.

I found this out from comments at http://gofedora.com/fedora-12-ati-catalyst-drivers/

After I did that extra few easy steps, 3D worked pretty good.</description>

		<description>AMD and Intel have the right idea.  Their drivers are basically in Mesa.  Nvidia have no open source strategy.

Incidentally, windows xp is 12 years old and its drivers still work unaltered in Win7!</description>
